Happy September! We are entering into my favorite time of year. It will not be long now before we are entering into the Autumn Season. It always gives me time to pause and reflect on the cycles and seasons that God calls us into. I'll have more to share on this down the road but for now, just know that I am ignoring this heat, looking forward to breaking out those hoodies, and enjoying a hot cup of coffee on the porch! Speaking of cycles and seasons be sure to make note of updates regarding all things, "Life at First Baptist" below! 

This past Sunday FBC Weston celebrated new life in Christ through baptism! Join us in praying for these two who have they have taken the next step in their faith. 

For the last several years FBC Weston has had the opportunity to partner with the ISE Foreign Exchange Student Program. Local Weston esident, Heidi Sullivan, leads the program in the area. The program outgrew her backyard and she asked if they could utilize the church for their regional welcome event. Admittedly, all I (Pastor Ricky) heard was, "I'd like to bring the nations to your doorstep!" With that, I gave a resounding yes. This was the third year we were able to do this. Several of the ladies here at FBC Weston provide the desserts which pair well with the American food potluck style dinner. Thank you to all who help contribute to this every year. Not only does our church allow the space to be used and provide dessert but it gives us an opportunity to share Christ with the students. This year, I was able to share a word about Jesus and a prayer from the book, "Ever Moment Holy" specifically around students studying abroad. Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026 FBC Weston's Office Hours will be changing. Pastor Ricky will hold regular Office Hours Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Pastor Daniel will hold regular Office Hours from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday-Thursday unless otherwise noted. Notifications of church and office closures will come through regular forms of communication. While these hours are for working on administrative duties, sermon preparation, and Sunday morning service planning these are also the hours for welcomed drop-ins and/or meetings. 

Pastor Ricky will be moving his day off to Mondays to spend time resting with family and will be unavailable with the exception of emergency pastoral needs. While the Church Office will remain closed on Fridays Pastor Ricky will be available by appointment and/or digital means.

The Sands' will be hosting a new Bible Study beginning August 12th. The time runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a meal. The study will utilize Midwestern Seminary's For the Church Institue's dive into Church History. The first leg of the study will span the next 10 weeks and cover the early church up to the Reformation. Then, in the Winter we will study the Reformation forward.  Contact Pastor Ricky and join us at the Sands Residence this Wednesday if you are interested in jumping in! 

Isaiah served as God’s mouthpiece to the nation of Judah but also to the surrounding nations. His message echoes into our lives today as we read his call to rely on the Lord. Using the genres of poetry, narrative, and prophecy, Isaiah communicated clearly that followers of God could trust in Him.

In this 8-session Bible study for women, teachers Kristi McLelland, Caroline Saunders, Blair Linne, Jennifer Rothschild, Kelly Minter, and Elizabeth Woodson will walk you through the pages of Scripture. Together, you’ll examine names for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and you’ll discover the impact each of God’s names has on your relationship with Him. Each name you encounter will inspire you to worship God for who He is and challenge you to consider how your life can be transformed in light of His character.

Join us for this year's Chili Cook-off! We will be gathering at the Pospisil residence for a time of good fun, good food, and good fellowship. Entries into the Chili Cook-off must arrive by judging time at 4:30 p.m.
