Partnership with West Platte

Thank you for pulling through for the students at West Platte. This is one of those opportunities that we were presented with a few years ago and have just kept going. Every year we get the opportunity to partner with the Library and Counseling services to provide a coffee/snack bar for the Teachers in the Fall and Students in the winter for Mental Health Awareness week. This just provides an opportunity for them to swing through the library and enjoy a treat on us! Way to be #forthecommunity!

Sanctity of Human Life Month

We will be setting up a tour date of the St. Joseph PRC very soon. We will get that date out to you as soon as we have it. We will load up the items and bottles we collected this year to take to the PRC. Libby Owens would also love to give us a tour of their facility to share about the services they offer there. Stay tuned for more information. There IS still time to bring your baby bottles by if you have not done so already.

FBC Weston Youth Group

Last night was week 2 of being back at Youth Group and we already doubled our attendance! Students gathered for a meal and fellowship. Huge thank you for Janie, Autumn & the Hospitality Team for providing a meal! Then, Joe led the students through a lesson out of Deuteronomy 32. This coming week we will be back in the book of James and will unpack expected trials that come in various kinds and how we are instructed to view them in light of the Gospel of Jesus. All students 6-12th grade are welcome!

St. Joseph Baptist Association: Every Tuesday we are commissioning our churches to pray for the DOM/AMS Search Team and process.

Titus Woods: Many of you are aware of Titus' accident with a table saw. (It's a story he likes to tell, ask him about!) Pray for him as he continues to heal from his surgery.

Pam Brumley: Many of you know Pam Brumley (wife of former Director of Missions, Roger). She has a major abdominal surgery on February 25th that will take several hours, a 5 day stay in the hospital, and 6 weeks of recovery.

Larison: Pray for Cindy as she is recovering from surgery and pray for Mike as he is navigating the loss of his sister.

Beall Family: Pray for their continued recovery from illness in the home and for Rick as he continues to search for answers.

We will be working on the Church Directory and are hopeful to have a new version printed and/or on the app by the end of March.

Pastor's Pen

Brothers & Sisters,

I snapped this photo out of the plane window on my way to Atlanta yesterday. I love to fly. I love to fly for a weird reason. When I am 30,000 feet in the air and I feel that first "dip" in the sky it has been the only place I've ever felt like I can truly let go. Do you know what I am talking about? On every flight I've been on there comes a time where it sort of feels like the plane goes weightless for a second, like it dropped ever so slightly, and you feel just the slightest bit of weight suspend in the air. Every time I feel that and look out the window to see that everything that once seemed so big from the ground now looks like an ant farm I just sort of "let go." Flying gives me that needed perspective that whatever perceived control I have in the world is just that; perceived. Knowing that all my fear, even if for just a brief period of time is gone. Anxiety, gone.

"If this plane goes down", I often think to myself, "I'm going to meet Jesus."

I have been thumbing through a little book by Jared C. Wilson titled, "The Imperfect Disciple", and just so happened to come across this quote while on the plane. "The truth is there is always something to be afraid of. And the more bored you are with the things of God, the more vulnerable you will be to this fear when difficulty comes." I looked out the window to this view and thought, "Wow, how can I grow bored with this? God crated all of it!" Then I thought, "How relevant is all of this to the message at church?!"

God is kind like that sometimes, isn't he? I made it to Atlanta but mentally, I'm still on that plane and adopting the mindset of that dove. If God is for me no one can stand against (Romans 8:31)? I pray you can do the same this week.

This coming Sunday we will participate in the Lord's Supper and meditate on Psalm 8 together. Jesus has made all of the above mentioned possible!

I look forward gathering and celebrating just that with you.
