Update from the Elders

The Elders met yesterday afternoon and discussed God's continued faithfulness to FBC Weston. We have been praying for direction on how to best steward the ministry and resources that God has provided. We believe the Lord has brought some clarity on how we believe He wants us to lead our church into the future. (This includes future plans regarding the parking lot.) So, here is what we are going to do. The Elders are going to push our next Family Meeting to August to allow time to finalize some vision planning, to meet with the Deacons to discuss further, and allow for some ministry/mission partnership opportunities to to prepare presentations. Our next Family Meeting will be unlike those we've done in the past as the bulk of our time together will be vision casting! As soon as we nail down the date we will certainly let the church know so we can make it a priority to be there!

Baptisms

We will be having a Baptism Service in the near future! If you or your child has come forward with a profession of faith and are ready to talk next steps please contact Pastor Ricky. We will simultaneously be scheduling a class for eligible Baptism Candidates.

Vacation Bible School

Dust off your boots and grab your bandanas—it’s time to get your tickets to Wonder Junction!

As we look around the West, we see so many things to wonder at—lovely landscapes, created critters, and intriguing inventions. But none of these compares to the grandest wonder of all—our Savior Jesus Christ! Here at Wonder Junction, we know there’s no greater joy than to praise the name of the Lord all day long. But how can yer kids do that if they don’t know who Jesus is or what he’s done for them?

In this Western-themed VBS, kids will learn all about who this amazing Jesus is as we dig into questions such as: What amazing things happened surrounding Jesus’ birth? What was Jesus like as a child and teen? What wonders occurred during Jesus’ ministry years? How were Jesus’ death and resurrection like no other? What should we be doing as we wait for Jesus’ return?

Get your tickets (sign-up) here!

Women's Book Club

All FBC Women are invited to a Book Club on July 28th. They will be taking the month of July to read through Seeing the Supernatural by Lee Strobel. The book can be purchased by clicking here!

Pastor's Pen

Brothers & Sisters,

I pray you had a wonderful 4th of July. It seems that the older I get the more appreciation I have to be living, in God's providence, in the freest country in the world. As I mentioned yesterday, there are many places that cannot begin to fathom the kinds of freedoms we have in the United States. Even amidst what seems like a difficult season in the life of our country we are still among the freest people in the world! On top of that, we get to live in the greatest little town in all of northwest Missouri.

As we made our way around Main Street, mingling, talking, catching up with old friends and new, I couldn't help but to think of an even greater freedom. The freedom we have been granted in our country. The freedom hard fought for, won, and protected is an extension of the greatest freedom we have been granted in Christ!

The words of Paul to the Galatians come to mind, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” -Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Paul's words in context are a call to the Galatians not to submit to a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1) as the Jews were trying to convince them that they needed to accept Christ AND obey the Law to be saved but they also remind us that the very same freedom is not grounds for licentiousness. Rather, that freedom has been granted to us to rest in Christ who has fulfilled the Law and to serve one another. What's the application? I'll give you two. First, as you continue to wave your flag don't forget to also raise your hands and give praise to Jesus who has set us free from sin and death. Secondly, the greatest way to serve your neighbor is to "love your neighbor as yourself" Jesus says in verse 14. Find ways to serve and love on those in your sphere of influence! If they're not believers utilize that to serve them in the greatest way you can by sharing the freeing Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ!

May the Lord bess you as you continue to make much of Him on mission!
