Family/Vision Meeting Recap |
|
Thank you for joining us for our Quarterly Family Meeting. Formal meeting minutes will be sent out as soon as they are finalized! Until then, here are a few highlights.
The Stewardship Team shared that while our giving is currently trending down about 11% we are still in a very good financial position. They are beginning to meet to plan the 2026 FBC Weston Ministry Operating Budget.
The Building & Grounds Team with vision cast from the Elders to reduce the original plan for a paved parking lot to a gravel lot with pavers and concrete steps leading down to the church that will save quite a bit of money so some of the funds can be re-allocated for kingdom causes. They are working on finishing up the courtyard area between the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary. The plan is call a church wide work day to finish up the project as well as some other projects in the building.
Bailee Giger shared about the great work the Lord is doing through FCA at West Platte. See the flyer below for an upcoming event you can take part in!
We thanked Jaci Vaughn for her service as our Church Treasurer as she is transitioning out. Laura Carroll was put forward by recommendation of the Elders to serve in this new role. Please welcome Laura!
The Elders shared that we are refining our membership process and currently have 5 membership candidates as well as 4 baptism candidates. They cast vision for "A Quarter for Kingdom Causes" to the church explaining that the Lord was leading us to radical generosity in seeing 1/4th of our budget go out the door toward missions and/or other Kingdom causes. As a way of expressing our faithfulness to the vision the Elders challenged the church to give away have of what we are saving on the Parking Lot Project. The church discussed this at length and voted in the affirmative to allocate 20k to 3 different missions and Kingdom causes. The church discussed these opportunities at length. The conversation involved being sure we're making plans to take care of the needs we have in our church. The Elders are in discussion around a bigger vision for accomplishing both! After discussion the church voted to donate 5k to Chris Munsterman with the Navigators and his family to help them move to Europe in October, 5k to Jeff & Leslie Diebold with the IMB in India, and 10k to the St. Joseph Pregnancy Resource Center. We will have updates in person or via video from each of these ministries so they can express their gratitude. |

Pastor's Pen |
Brothers & Sisters,
What we are doing matters! I want to thank you for sticking around to discuss the wonderful work God is doing here in our little corner of Northwest Missouri. As I stated yesterday, my work in revitalization has exposed me to the vast amount of churches that aren't discussing accomplishing Kingdom work, building repairs, or expansion. Many churches across small town and rural North America are without Pastors and are wondering if they'll be around in the next few years. Around 900 SBC churches close a year and we plant somewhere around 700. We can't keep up!
The Elders shared a vision and called the church to action on that vision knowing that it would feel a bit uncomfortable! As Pastor Shawn shared at the end of our meeting yesterday the Lord wants us to be bold. Trace big moves of God in the Bible and here's what you will find. God doing a lot with very little resources but a whole lot of faith. That's what we want to be. A church who uses our resources in a way that will both help us accomplishing being a church for the Kingdom and for the community. As we continue to reach our community in big ways that certainly means we need to have a plan on how to accommodate that but we believe step 1 is trusting God will continue to provide for that while we trust him with a quarter of our first fruits!
Thank you! Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for the wonderful discussion around these big moves. What we are doing has eternal significance; it matters. So much so that we powered through our regular lunch hour and Oliver's nap. Now, next up. Let's get these gifts where they need to be and we will be back, as promised, with some more plans for what we anticipate God has for FBC Weston!
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” -Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV |
