Applefest Float |

We will meet and discuss things during the Family Meal following the Family Meeting!!
We have been kicking around the idea of entering an FBC Weston Float in the Applefest Parade for a couple of years now. Here is what we need: an open trailer, volunteers to help construct a vision for it, float riders, folks to walk with the float to hand out information about the church and our upcoming Outdoor Movie Night/Carnival, lots of candy donated, someone who would like to pull the trailer with a tractor or truck, etc. We will have a short planning/informational meeting following our Worship Service on Sunday, September 7th. If you would like to take part please plan on joining us then! |

Pastor's Pen |
Brothers & Sisters,
This picture of a culmination of things. First, just the undying faithfulness of a Mom who has, in the midst of many hardships in life, clung to Jesus as He has held on to her. Just knowing the Woods family has grown my faith tremendously. To see this young girl using her gifts to serve the Lord and leading the church to the throne of grace is truly a blessing. Which leads to the second thing. Secondly, she approached me several months ago about the possibility of singing a song in church as a special. After discussing things over with the Elders we determined that we weren't sure it would be the appropriate time and place for something like that. I had to break the news and I could feel the let down. However, this led to a deeper discussion with Pastor Daniel & I's friend, Adam, who is a Pastor in Iowa. We met for lunch a few months ago and he encouraged us to find appropriate ways to involve children. This IS something we've wanted to figure out for some time. Third, as we were having this discussion Daniel was rehearsing for Sunday morning worship with another member of our team whose daughter stood on the platform and sang with her Mom. The light bulb went off. Why can't we have our baptized believing children involved in leading with our Worship Team if they have the gift to do so? Not having a good answer for this question lead to what we all benefited from yesterday!
Mark 10:14 says, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” -Mark 10:14 ESV As we continue to learn and grow together I look forward to how this continues to manifest itself in the life of our church. Our children are not the future of the church! If they are born again believers they are the church of today and frankly, we can learn from their simple faith!
I love what God is doing in our church and I am so thankful to have a seat on the ride! |
