REMINDER: This Sunday, August 31st, is the 5th Sunday and that means it is our 5th Sunday Family Worship. We truly value this time together when our families are together in the Worship Service. A friend of mine shared these cards with me that they made for the parents in their church. I thought it was really good. Of course, if you need them the Nursery, Mother's Room, and Fellowship Hall will be available for use. This Sunday we will begin Matthew 13 if you wanted to prepare you children for the message!

Foreign Exchange Student Welcome

This past week we hosted several high school students studying abroad in the U.S. We had students from France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Spain, Austria, & Switzerland in our building!! Big thanks to our Hospitality Team for welcoming them so well! Special thanks to Janie West & Liz Duryea for working the kitchen. The nations were at our door and we had an opportunity to share the Gospel with them! For the Kingdom, for the Community!

Women's Book Club Meeting

The next Women's Book Club Meeting will be August 25th at 5:30 p.m. All women are invited. You can purchase the book here if you do not already have a copy!

Applefest Float

We will meet and discuss things during the Family Meal the Family Meeting!!

We have been kicking around the idea of entering an FBC Weston Float in the Applefest Parade for a couple of years now. Here is what we need: an open trailer, volunteers to help construct a vision for it, float riders, folks to walk with the float to hand out information about the church and our upcoming Outdoor Movie Night/Carnival, lots of candy donated, someone who would like to pull the trailer with a tractor or truck, etc. We will have a short planning/informational meeting following our Worship Service on Sunday, September 7th. If you would like to take part please plan on joining us then!

Monday Evening Women's Bible Study

A new Women's Bible Study will begin Monday, September 22nd. The church will be ordering the books for the group at a discounted price of $10. Sign-up here!

FBC Weston Chili & Soup Cook-off

If you didn't know, Rod Slump, keeps his Chili Cook-off Trophy on the mantel. Word has it he intends to keep it there. I know many of you would like for it to adorn your mantle instead so we're giving you the opportunity! Dust off the old cookbook and bust out your best chili & soup recipes! This cook off has quickly became an annual tradition here at FBC Weston and this year we're adding a bonus category: desserts! Join us on September 27th at Nathan & Ashley's for a night of good fun, fellowship, food.. and friendly cooperation!

Applefest Sunday 2025

REMINDER: The weekend of Applefest we will not have Sunday School and will have our regular worship service at 9:00 a.m. to allow for everyone to beat the traffic home!

Historical Facts at First Baptist

Pastor's Pen

Brothers & Sisters,

I have an Executive Board Meeting in Jefferson City this week. I would appreciate your prayers. I leave shortly after lunch and will return tomorrow evening. This is the second to last meeting of my service on the Executive Board for my first term. I was approached by the Nominating Committee and asked if I would consider serving a second term. After some thought and prayer I agreed to accept the nomination. Should the Messengers at the Missouri Baptist Convention Meeting in October vote in agreement I will begin a second three year term of service. I have enjoyed serving on the Church Renewal Committee and partnering with Resound Network in a number of ways!

With that said, over the last year there have been a lot of changes (I believe for the better) on the state level. If you will recall, Dr. Fowler was voted in as our new Executive Director last year. He is working hard to visit our MBC Churches (I am working to get him to pay us a visit here in Weston) and making changes to help us accomplish the mission of "helping churches transform lives and communities with the gospel." There are quite a few agenda items in need of discussion at this next meeting and I would appreciate your prayer as we prayerfully tackle each item!

At the second class of a new 4 week New Member Class we discussed denominational life and I was reminded again why I enjoy being a Southern Baptist. We can accomplish much when thousands of churches just like ours work together! I was also reminded that the church sets the example for the convention. As we all work together of accomplishing the mission of being a church that is "for the Kingdom and for the community" it sets the example for what cooperation looks like on a state and even national level!

It is a joy to be on this mission with you,
