Brothers & Sisters,
Some of you may remember Backyard Bible Clubs. I think we may have accidentally started one..
Over the last few years it has been difficult to try and get something started for youth aged students. In some seasons it has gone well and in others it has waned. Some of that is due to not having a lot of youth aged students at the church. I decided to try and re-think youth ministry this year and started a Bible Study over at our house with dinner on Sunday evenings. We moved things outside and neighbor kids have started to show up! Last week a young man named Tyler turned up and I invited him back. This week he came back and brought his sister, Abriella. This picture was snapped last night as Andrew Carroll sat around the fire pit teaching Jonah 1 to a few of the kids who have been coming.
Here's a confession. I was ready to maybe just throw in the towel on a ministry to youth for another season. We have lots of kids who are upcoming and I thought, "Maybe I'll try again next year." I think I am getting a taste of my own medicine. I've always thought and taught "We must pivot and move where God is moving."
Pray for Tyler and Abriella! Who knows what the Lord might be doing in their hearts through this simple act of hospitality.
If you've got students who may be interested in joining us please contact me and we can discuss further!
